Kara was born in the Pacific Northwest but spent her formative years in Los Angeles, CA and Marseilles, France. She has been writing since childhood. Her work explores the spiritual, existential, and psychological deserts that devastate and transform us. Her short stories, essays, and arts & culture reviews have appeared in Gapers Block, Bright Wall/Dark Room magazine, and The Windhover, among other publications. She lives in Chicago with one daughter, two cats, and a number of houseplants.
